All of the various rooms I've stayed in from the Standard King through to the Premium Oceanfront Balcony Suite (highly recommended), have shown no signs of any animals having previously stayed before me, in fact, my dog doesn't even sniff all over the place as any dog does when they smell other dogs. They do an amazing job keeping it so clean with however many dogs pass through there. As a single dog lover/owner who has unexpectedly needed to 'live' near the AC hospital temporarily, the Showboat being pet friendly is a life saver considering how few options there are available locally. In my opinion, as someone who has been spending considerable time at the Showboat over the past 2-3 months, is that this hotel is 100% worth trying out for yourself, if it meets your needs as advertised. Plus the doormen will be happy to assist. You walk directly out of the casino lobby and the cabs are usually parked off to the side just waiting for customers. We've stayed at Showboat three times this year and I find it much easier to leave my car parked in the lot and cab it around town. And going to the boardwalk will mean walking the length of the casino floor. Sometimes just walking out of the casino to the jitney, is a hike for older guests, as these casinos are enormous. It's not that expensive ($5-$8) but more importantly, it delivers us door to door. I've found traveling by taxi to be the easiest for us. I travel to AC with my mother frequently and she too does not get around easily. (This is followed by the Trump Plaza, the Tropicana, and down at the end, the Hilton.) Then there's a bit of a gap and the next casino is the Sands, then Claridge, then Ballys, and then Cesars.

Traveling north to south the Showboat is the first casino on the boardwalk, the next one down is Taj Mahal, then Resorts.
